Last weekend we saw Tarraco Race 2012, held at Santa Oliva Track, near Mediterranean.

Both forecasts, racing and weather were good. So that Robert Batlle was clear dominator of the event and the weather was warm and Sunny.

Tarraco Race 2012

On January 20-22 the Tarraco Race will take place at Sta. Oliva Track, home track for Robert Batlle.

It is an Open format Race, with pyramid structure, so you can join the fun on Friday 20 or even on Sunday 22nd, but we suggest you to take the opportunity to enjoy a weekend near Mediterranean.

Last weekend we saw the 1st Round (1/3) for the Hobby Auto Winter challenge. Took place at Santa Perpetua track.

V12 Marine micro engine

In this video you can watch how this miniature engine was built. A V12 marine engine. Just with an old lathe, a driller, metal files and lots of work and passion for the mechcanics.

Robert Batlle “On Head” Camera

Our friends from cochesrc.com, the largest Spanish RC community, placed a special camera right in the head of Robert Batlle and recorded one heat during the last Round of Spanish Nats. We have seen some images from on-car cameras, wide angle circuit cameras, but this driver POV images are adding the idea about how the real player is feeling the race.

Robert Batlle & Merlin Fuel are 2011 Spanish Champions

Last weekend the last round of Spanish 1/8 Off-Roads Nats was held at Fuencarral (Madrid).

Under a typical a summer weather, 122 drivers took part in the race.

Robert Batlle was the main favorite for the title. A 4th place in the race was enough to secure his 6th Nat Championship. Also Borja Hernández and Richi Gómez were involved in the fight and they had serious options finishing ahead Batlle.

After a discreet first heat, Robert Batlle was first in Q2 and Q3, taking the TQ, followed by Bryan Baldó and Borja Hernández.

A Main final was a close fight between Batlle and Alberto García who was racing at his home track. Finally Robert managed to get a good pace and took some gap over Alberto García who finished second ahead former European Champion Dani Vega, also racing at home.

The A-main results:

3. Dani Vega – Agama / Orion
4. Ricardo Gómez – Crono / Reds

After this last Round, Robert takes his 6th Spanish Nats, followed by Borja Hernández and Richi Gómez.

So it was a brilliant season for Batlle and Merlin Fuel, after having won the European Title, Spanish Nats, Euro Warmup among others.

Jorg Van Leuken takes Netherlands 2011 title

Last weekend we saw the last race for the 2011 Netherlands 18 Off Road Championship at Pumernend (North Holland)

Jorg was clear favourite for overall victory, but he still had to place at least 3rd to secure the championship. Jeffrey Halsema, racing at home was the favourite to take the race. However, J. Van Leuken managed to TQ at the very last qualifying second.

In the final, local driver Halsema confirmed the forecast and took the victory followed for the new Champion, Jorg Van Leuken.

Buggy Cup Netherlands Rd. 6

Last weekend was already round 6 of the NK for 1:8 Buggy racers. During qualification there was a fierce battle in between Jorg van Leuken and Bart Mullink which came out in the advantage for Bart.

The finals however were another story and an exiting final was races between Bart and Jorg for which Jorg was simply the fastest with his JQ powered TecnoPower B02T and Merlin Fuel.

Novarossi Summer Challenge 2011

Despite the name “summer” the weather was not good, and the heavy rain, made the organizators postpone the race to Oct 1^st and 2^nd.

However, on mid Sunday the track was allright and there was a lot of drivers willing to race. So that still keeping in mind the new dates, they did a small race with 5 min qualyfing and 30 min. final.

This was the top 3:

1. Robert Batlle (ES) – Mugen – Novarossi – Merlin Advance - 47 laps
2. Adam Drake (USA) – TLR – Novarossi – 46 laps
3. Walter Floris (ITA) – TLR – Novarossi – 44 laps

Robert Batlle takes Italian Nats. Rd. 4

Last weekend Robert Batlle travelled to Viggu (Italy) to take part in the Italian Nats as a guest driver.

He managed to TQ and win the main final.

Top 3:

3. Davide Tortorici – Hobao / Sirio – 62 – 45:22.88

So, Robert adds a new victory to a impressive season starting, including Spanish Nats 1 & 2, Euros Warmup and a 2nd place in Neo 2011 among others

Spanish Nats 1/8 Onroad – Rd. 3 – Victory for Oscar Cabezas

The 3rd Round for Spanish 1/8 Onroad NAts, took place in Vigo (Northwest Spain) last weekend.

Drivers were not happy on Friday due to the rain. saturday was expected as a rainy day again. However, before the afternoon, the sun finally appeared to dry the track and let the race go.

Oscar Cabezas TQ’ed for this race making over 10 TQ’s in a row in the Spanish Championship.

4. Nacho López Serpent / Max Power

The final was really disputed. In the very first laps, Oscar realizaed that he had not the proper engine tunning, having a rich carburation. So that he decided to have a conservative fuel strategy, what made him refuel twice more than his direct rivals.

Eventhough he managed to do most of the final in 1-2nd position.

The last lap he was on second position, and right in this lap, Nacho López who was first, felt a lack of fuel in his Serpent, and had to make a “pass trough with a fuel shot” to secure the second position.
