Spanish 200 mm. Final Round – Rodrigo Pahissa, New Champion

The 5th and final round for Spanish 1/10 200 mm. took place last weekend in Madrid at Club ARCA Track.

It was an extremely interesting round, since the overall title fight was really tight involving more than 10 drivers with real chance to win the aboslubte Spanish Nat Championship.

The weekend looked great for racing, sunny and over 24ºC. Over 80 drivers attended this last round 2009 season in Madrid.

The Saturday qualifying round showed a close fight for the TQ, with the Top 3 almost in the same laptime and a fratricidal duel between Pahissa Brothers.

4. Javier Hidalgo 22 laps – 7:19:696 Serpent/Max

Coming from semi-finals Xabier Arana, Juan Hidalgo, Sergi Franch, Victor Peláez, Luis Cayetano and Toni Mur completed the starting grid.

One of the main candidates for the Spanish Championship, Johnny Pastor, finished earlier than expected in semi-final A.

The main final was  really dispuetd. Iñaky Pahissa dominated the firsts laps, while his brother Rodrigo was having some trouble after having rolled, running in last position.

After the second refuelling Javier Hidalgo was the leader and Rodrigo Pahissa was climbing  up positions until he managed to reach the first place, keeping a small advantage ahead Gradoli.

So finally, Rodrigo Pahissa made it and won the race 9 seconds ahead Josep Gradolí and Juan Hidalgo completed the podium in third position.

With his Victory, Rodrigo Pahissa is the absubte Spanish Nat Champion. Moreover he is the youngest ever 1:10 winner with just 16 y.o.

Cto. de España 1:8 – Gijón

La 3ª prueba del Nacional ha sido dominada desde el primer día por el piloto de Merlin Oscar Cabezas (11 Clasificado en el Cto. d. Mundial de Lostallo ) que con su Motonica P81-Novarossi consiguió un nuevo record del circuito al hacer la vuelta rápida en las prácticas oficiales controladas del sábado en 15 segundos 280 centésimas, la Pole-Position en las cuatro mangas clasificatorias y venció la final con tres vueltas de diferencia sobre el segundo clasificado. En las clasificatorias el segundo puesto fue para Víctor González (Kyosho-MB-JBTRC.Racing), tercero fue Nacho López (Mugen) y cuarto Carlos Peracho (Velox-Sirio).

En la final Oscar Cabezas (Motonica-Novarossi-Merlin-Enneti-JBTRC.Racing) venció con autoridad dando 165 vueltas, seguido de Nacho López (Mugen- Nova Collari-Enneti) que hizo 162 y el tercer escalón del pódium lo consiguió Sergio Montesinos (Mugen-JP Racing-Enneti) con 161 vueltas.

Merlin success at latest Irish National encounter

It was an all Merlin podium at the rescheduled third round of the Irish National Onroad Championships last Sunday as Austin Elliot claimed his second 1:8 win of the season. Racing in beautiful sunny conditions it was Mugen driver Clive Connolly who took TQ honours.

The multiple champion was in dominant form in the half hour final but 43 laps in, the rear pulley came loose on the leader’s car. This handed Serpent’s Michael Byrne the lead but in the closing stages of the race Elliot found his way through to take the win by half a lap. After losing almost 2-minutes in the pits Connolly rejoined the race to record a new lap record of 14.4 seconds with his Merlin fuelled MRX-4R enroute to taking the final step on the podium. Overall Ian Campbell claimed the Champion giving Merlin back to back Irish titles. In the 1:10 Final Merlin enjoyed two drivers on the podium with Thomas Ward and nitro racing debutant Pat Healy finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively. The eight & final round of the 1:10 200mm National Championship takes competitors to the tight Ballymoney track in Northern Ireland this weekend.

Cto. Europa 1:8 +40

Las instalaciones del club ARCA en Madrid, acogieron el pasado fin de semana el Cto. de Europa 1:8 pista en su modalidad para veteranos (+40).

La victoria fue a parar a manos del francés Jacky Mouton (Serpent Novarossi), que se hizo con la Pole de la prueba, seguido de Cayetano Martínez (Motonica / Novarossi) y José Antonio Aludo (Mugen/Max) completó el podium (3º)

En esta carrera Óscar y Alberto Cabezas invirtieron sus roles habituales, siendo Óscar (11º Clasificado en el reciente Cto. Mundial de Lostallo) quién asistió a Alberto en su participación en este Europeo +40.

Óscar acreditó que además de ser un piloto sobresaliente, es también un  experimentado “Pitman” ya que cuando Alberto rodaba en 5º posición rompió la suspensión delantera y Óscar consiguió improvisar una solución rápida que permitió a Alberto concluir la final y hacerlo en octava posición.

GP Irlanda 2009

Éxito de Merlin Fuel en el EFRA GP Irlanda

El primer Egra GP en Irlanda, se disputó el pasado fin de semana en el circuito de St. Annes, cerca de la capiltal, Dublin. Los vencedores de ambas categorías !:8 y 1:10 eligieron Merlin para disputar la prueba.

En las clasificatorias Merlin consiguió la pole position en ambas categorías de la mano del campeón Británico Kyle Branson (Serpent / Sirio) y de Ian Campbell (Shepehrd Velox)

En la final sobre mojado en 1:10 Kyle Branson tomó el liderato en las primeras vueltas, pero en el minuto 10 sufiró un problema de radio en la recta principal, que acabó con su Serpent chocando con el muro de los boxes, terminando así su GP. Esto permitió Keith Dempsey (Serpent / Irlanda) tomar el control de la carrera y cruzar la meta con una ventaja de 2 vueltas sobre el joven Alex Thurson (UK), que tambien eligió Merlin Fuel para propulsar su Kyosho/Novarossi.

Desafortunadamente la incesante lluvia no permitió disputar la final de 1:8, quedando como resultado final las clasificaciones previas, de modo que Cambell se hizo con la victoria seguido por Michael Byrn, también con Merlin Fuel.

Este es el primer GP que se celebra en Irlanda y a pesar de la meteorología fue un gran éxito que el club ORCA espera repetir el próximo año.

Merlin success at Irish Grand Prix

The inaugural Irish Grand Prix took place over the weekend at the St.Annes track situated on the outskirts of capital city Dublin where the winners of both the 1:10 and 1:8 onroad classes used Merlin fuel to power their cars. In qualifying Merlin claimed TQ honours in both categories as British 1:10 Champion Kyle Branson claimed pole with his Sirio powered Serpent while Ian Campbell was fastest in 1:8 with his Shepherd Velox.

In the wet 30-minute 1:10 final Branson took the early lead but 10-minutes in the youngster suffered a radio glitch on the main straight which sent his Serpent crashing into the pit wall and into instant retirement. This allowed Team Serpent Ireland driver Keith Dempsey to take control of the race as he cruised to a 2-lap winning margin over young ace Alex Thurston from the UK who was also using Merlin fuel in his Novarossi powered Kyosho. Unfortunately poor weather meant the 1:8 final didn’t run with Campbell declared the winner based on the results of qualifying from fellow Merlin user Michael Byrne.

The first ever Irish Grand Prix the event was, despite the wet conditions, a huge success and one which the hosting ORCA Club hope to build on next year

The 1/10 2009 Euros is finished.

Dirk Wischnewski has taken the final victory followed by our Team Driver Alexander Hagberg and the Austrian Manuel Huber, all them in the same lap.

The TQ man Dario Balestri was first with a whole lap advantage, but he suffered a problem in the front of the car.

Cto. De Europa 1:10 2009 – Dirk Wischnewski Campeón – Hagberg 2º con Merlin Fuel

Acaba de concluir la final del Cto. de Europa 1:10 2009 en Gubbio.

Muchas sorpresas en este campeonato, como la eliminación temprana de nombres como A. Bertin, M. Salven, A. MAzzeo, Jilles Groskamp, Robert Pietsch o el vigente campeón mundial Daniele Ileasi.

La final  ha estado dominada por Dario Balestri, que ha mantenido la Pole lograda ayer hasta que un problema en la parte delantera de su coche, le ha hecho ceder muchas posiciones mientras trataban de repararlo en Boxes. Poco después de salir, su Team Magic, ha dicho basta y se ha quedado parado en mitad de la pista.

Magnífica carrera de nuestro Team Driver Alexander Hagberg, que a pesar de una nefasta salida, ha conseguido quedar en el segundo lugar del cajón.

Y mención especial para el último clasificado, el genial Maurizio Calvari cuyo mejor tiempo en clasificatorias es de 19 vueltas (a 7 vueltas del mejor clasificado), pero que a sus 67 años demuestra que lo importante es participar.

Algunas sorpresas importantes en la clasificación como el puesto 109 de Alessio Mazzeo, el 47 de Adrien Bertin o el no menos sorprendente 50 del actual campeón mundial Daniele Ileasi.
